Welcome to the first conference on holocentric chromosomes!

Holocentric chromosomes are fascinating features found in diverse organisms, from butterflies and moths to sedges and nematodes. Instead of a single localized centromere per chromosome, those species have centromeric activity dispersed along the length of each chromosome. Holocentricity comes with its own evolutionary implications, from special adaptations in meiosis to intriguing roles in speciation.

Holocentric chromosomes still hold many mysteries! With this very first conference on holocentric chromosomes, we will bring together researchers working on diverse aspects of holocentric chromosomes from diverse model systems, ranging from cell biology to macroevolution, providing cutting-edge perspectives.

Come join us in the picturesque city of Neuchâtel, nestled between a stunning lake and the Jura mountains in Switzerland, to connect, collaborate and together explore the frontiers of holocentric chromosome research!
